Sometimes specimens within the collection have less esoteric origins, perhaps the result of unfortunate genetic mutation, birth afflictions, or at the hands of men and women whose own goals were less than altruistic. In this case we have an old – I guess perhaps 150 years – specimen of Desmodus Rotundus, the Vampire Bat, in itself an interesting species, but in this case the subject suffered from polycephaly, born with two heads. I am not sure if the specimen lives long but I hazard a guess that it lived a number of months judging by its size. It is presented wings unfurled (sadly one wing has suffered some damage over the years) hanging from some ornamental wood within a nice little display case.
