Draco Alatus infant

Examples of Draco Alatus, obtained by Lord Merrylin after careful negotiations with the Buddhist monks living in Gurkha Himal, Nepal. His previous encounter with the men, and the pain he had caused them when he ordered his team of hired trackers to steal the stilborn body and head of two young deceased Dragons and desecrate their sacred tomb had left them in a state of shock, forcing the entire enclave to travel further into the Nepalese mountains.
Merrylin had searched for years to find these secretive individuals and their flock of the last remaining Draco Alatus, to offer some kind of apology. He eventually found them, in a massive valley, hidden by two huge cliff faces, at the bottom of which, a beautiful lake. It was here he saw the flock for the first time with his own eyes. They were massive, majestic animals, their wings flexing in the afternoon light. He saw perhaps twenty adults and many young, a flourishing community of ancient animals.

His bargaining for an apology was rewarded, but at a cost. He agreed to pay for the enclave to buy cattle for the Dragons and for themselves, as the flock grew, their ability to feed the animals dwindled. Soon the flock would migrate in search of food, and thus mark the end of them at the hands of a frightened modern world. His own joy in seeing these creatures, was worth every penny, and for many years he returned to Nepal to visit the Agni Dragon colony. He asked for specimens of any Draco that died before hatching, so that he could study the animals further. They were reticent, yet after agreeing that more knowledge of the species would be valuable, they donated a series of specimens.
